Jonathan and Rusty scheduled a shoot during a weekend trip to Chicago the day after Rusty’s arrival from a 7-month tour in Afghanistan.
I love documenting love, and these two were so easy to work with. I also love their story…Rusty’s words are included at the end of this post.
From Rusty:
“We started the relationship as friends, communicating through email and phone simply due to our jobs, I was in the Airforce and lived an hour 1/2 away and he a cop, working a very demanding schedule. The little time we did have off we spent it together; going to the movies, dinners, clubs, we were inseparable. I was due to separate from the military in December 2010. I had made the decision to take 30 days of terminal leave, and during that time I spent most of my time visiting Jonathan at his place in Cincinnati, cooking for him, going to the gym together, attending church every Sunday, we seemed to never get enough of each other.
No matter what we did, we enjoyed it to the fullest because we were sharing each others interest, learning from each other. We were truly committed to each others interest and goals, we have such a strong desire to learn and grow with each other. During my 7 month tour, we never missed a day of talking.
Jonathan is truly a blessing, I call him my bulldozer. A man who tore down my walls of insecurities and walls of protection.”
